Classic Creamy Mashed Potatoes

1.Place the peeled and cut potatoes into a large pot and cover with cold water by about an inch.

2.Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water and bring it to a boil over high heat.

3.Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the potatoes until they are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
