Classic French Café Crème

1.Brew 180 ml of strong black coffee using an espresso machine or a French press with dark roast coffee grounds. Ensure the coffee is hot and freshly made.

2.While the coffee is brewing, pour 120 ml of whole milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until it reaches about 65°C (149°F), just before boiling. Alternatively, use a steam wand if available.

3.Using a milk frother or steam wand, froth the heated milk until it becomes smooth and velvety with a light layer of microfoam on top.

4.Pour the brewed black coffee into a large pre-warmed cup or bowl.

5.Slowly add the steamed milk to the coffee, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the velvety froth on top to create a creamy layer.

6.If desired, stir in 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar to sweeten the drink gently, or leave it unsweetened to appreciate the coffee's natural flavors.

7.Optionally, dust a pinch of cocoa powder or cinnamon on the froth for an aromatic garnish.

8.Serve immediately with a small spoon and enjoy this elegant and comforting French café crème.
