Christmas Lokma

1.In a mixing bowl, combine the water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2.Add the flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger to the yeast mixture. Mix well until a sticky dough forms.

3.Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4.Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (180°C).

5.Using a spoon, scoop small portions of the dough and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

6.Remove the fried lokma with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

7.Drizzle honey or syrup over the warm lokma.

8.Garnish with chopped nuts and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
