Kraken Cake with Tentacle Design

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.

3.Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until well combined.

4.Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

5.Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

6.Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7.Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

8.In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and fluffy.

9.Divide the frosting into three bowls. Tint one bowl with blue gel food coloring, another with green, and the last with black. Mix until the colors are vibrant.

10.Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of blue frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining blue frosting.

11.Roll out the fondant and shape it into tentacles. Use black food coloring to paint the tentacles for a realistic look. Dust with edible silver dust for a shimmering effect.

12.Attach the tentacles to the cake, arranging them to look like they are emerging from the cake. Use edible eyes or candy eyes to add detail to the tentacles.

13.Use the green and black frosting to add additional details and texture to the cake, creating a sea-like effect around the tentacles.

14.Chill the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the frosting to set.
