Elegant Gin & Elderflower Fizz (Upright, No Ice)

1.Chill a coupe, Nick & Nora, or small wine glass thoroughly. This chilled temperature is essential since ice will not be used.

2.Combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

3.Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice.

4.Seal the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is well-chilled (about 15-20 seconds).

5.Double strain the mixture from the shaker into the chilled serving glass. Since no ice is added to the glass, this rapid chilling process is critical.

6.Top the cocktail gently with the chilled sparkling wine or club soda.

7.Gently stir once with a bar spoon to incorporate the effervescence without disturbing the drink too much.

8.Express the oils from the lemon peel over the drink by twisting it sharply, then place the twist into the glass as a garnish.
