Traditional Czech Bramborák

1.Peel the potatoes and grate them into a large mixing bowl.

2.Finely chop the onion and garlic, then add them to the grated potatoes.

3.Stir in the flour, beaten egg, marjoram, and caraway seeds. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.

4.Heat a generous amount of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

5.Once the oil is hot, spoon portions of the potato mixture into the pan. Flatten the mixture with the back of the spoon to form pancakes.

6.Fry each pancake for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are crispy and golden brown.

7.Remove the pancakes from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Serving Serve the bramborák hot, garnished with fresh parsley and a dollop of sour cream on the side. For a heartier meal, accompany with smoked meat and sauerkraut. Feel free to explore variations by adding sliced spring onions or grated cheese into the potato mixture before frying.
