Festive Cinnamon Apple Polcake

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2.In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3.Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

4.In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.

5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.

6.Fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

7.Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

8.Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

9.Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

10.Dust the cooled polcake with powdered sugar before serving.
