Lasagna

Meat Sauce In a large saucepan, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, olive oil, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cheese Filling In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Assembly Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer a third of the meat sauce, half of the noodles, half of the cheese filling, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Bake Cover and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 25 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting.
