Crispy Beer-Battered Onion Rings

1.Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.

2.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the dry ingredients.

3.Gradually pour in the cold beer while whisking the mixture until you achieve a smooth batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the onion rings but still pourable.

4.In a separate shallow dish, place the breadcrumbs. This will be used for the final coating of the onion rings.

5.Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready.

6.Dip each onion ring into the beer batter, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs to the batter.

7.Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy, turning them halfway through for even cooking.

8.Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with additional salt if desired.

9.Serve the crispy beer-battered onion rings hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
