Savory Mushroom Duplex

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2.Clean the mushrooms and slice them.

3.In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

4.Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

5.Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their liquid and start to brown, about 10 minutes.

6.Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine.

7.Slowly pour in the chicken broth while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.

8.Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.

9.Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.

10.Place 4 slices of bread in a baking dish.

11.Spoon half of the mushroom mixture over the bread slices.

12.Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the mushroom mixture.

13.Top with the remaining 4 slices of bread.

14.Spoon the remaining mushroom mixture over the bread slices.

15.Sprinkle the rest of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.

16.Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

17.Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

18.Serve the savory mushroom duplex hot and enjoy!
