Perfect Liege Waffle Batter in the Bread Maker

1.In a small bowl, dissolve 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar in 1/3 cup lukewarm milk.

2.Sprinkle 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

3.In the bread maker pan, add 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 3/4 teaspoon salt.

4.In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined.

5.Pour the egg and vanilla mixture over the flour and salt in the bread maker pan.

6.Add the frothy yeast mixture to the bread maker pan.

7.Set the bread maker to the dough setting and start it for 5 minutes to mix the ingredients together.

8.After 5 minutes, pause the bread maker and add 1 cup of softened unsalted butter in pieces to the dough.

9.Restart the bread maker on the dough setting and let it knead for another 25 minutes.

10.Pause the machine again and add 1 cup of pearl sugar to the dough.

11.Restart the dough setting and let the machine knead the dough for another 5-10 minutes until the sugar is well incorporated.

12.Turn off the bread maker and let the dough rise inside the machine for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

13.Once risen, remove the dough from the bread maker and gently deflate it.

14.Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.

15.Your Liege waffle batter is now ready to be cooked in a waffle iron.
