Perfect Liege Waffle Batter in the Bread Maker

1In a small bowl, dissolve 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar (2 tablespoons) in 1/3 cup lukewarm milk (⅓ cup).

2Sprinkle 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons) over the milk mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

3In the bread maker pan, add 2 cups of all-purpose flour (2 cups) and 3/4 teaspoon salt (¾ teaspoon).

4In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 large eggs (3 large) and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (1 teaspoon) until well combined.

5Pour the egg and vanilla mixture over the flour and salt (¾ teaspoon) in the bread maker pan.

6Add the frothy yeast mixture to the bread maker pan.

7Set the bread maker to the dough setting and start it for 5 minutes to mix the ingredients together.

8After 5 minutes, pause the bread maker and add 1 cup of softened unsalted butter (1 cup) in pieces to the dough.

9Restart the bread maker on the dough setting and let it knead for another 25 minutes.

10Pause the machine again and add 1 cup of pearl sugar (1 cup) to the dough.

11Restart the dough setting and let the machine knead the dough for another 5-10 minutes until the sugar is well incorporated.

12Turn off the bread maker and let the dough rise inside the machine for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

13Once risen, remove the dough from the bread maker and gently deflate it.

14Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.

15Your Liege waffle batter is now ready to be cooked in a waffle iron.
