1In a mixing bowl, combine milk (¼ cup) powder, all-purpose flour (¼ cup), and baking soda (¼ tsp).

2Add ghee (¼ cup), milk (¼ cup), and yogurt (¼ cup) to the dry ingredients. Knead into a soft dough. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk (¼ cup).

3Divide the dough into small equal-sized portions and shape them into smooth balls without any cracks.

4In a separate saucepan, combine sugar (2 cups) and water (2 cups). Stir over medium heat until the sugar (2 cups) dissolves. Add cardamom powder (½ tsp) and a few drops of rose water (2 cups) (if using). Simmer for 5-7 minutes to form a slightly sticky syrup. Remove from heat.

5Heat ghee (¼ cup) in a deep frying pan over low-medium heat. Fry the dough balls in small batches until golden brown and evenly cooked. Drain excess ghee (¼ cup) by placing them on a paper towel.

6Immerse the fried balls in the warm sugar (2 cups) syrup. Let them soak for at least 2 hours to absorb the flavors.

7Serve the gulab jamun garnished with saffron strands and chopped pistachios. Enjoy these delectable sweet treats!
