Birthday Toffee Delight

1Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

3Add sugar and water (¼ cup) to the melted butter, stirring continuously until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.

4Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it into an even layer with a spatula.

5Sprinkle the chocolate chips (1 cup) over the hot toffee and let them sit for a minute to melt. Then, spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer.

6Sprinkle chopped nuts (½ cup) and colorful sprinkles (½ cup) on top of the chocolate layer, gently pressing them into the chocolate.

7Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator until firm.

8Once set, break the toffee into bite-sized pieces.
