Creamy Macaroni and Potato Casserole

1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.

2Cook the macaroni (2 cups) according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

3Boil the potatoes (2) until tender, then peel and dice them.

4In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion (1) and minced garlic (3 cloves) until fragrant and translucent.

5In a bowl, whisk together the eggs (2) and milk (2 cups) until well combined.

6In the greased baking dish, layer half of the cooked macaroni (2 cups), potatoes (2), onion (1), and garlic (3 cloves).

7Pour half of the egg and milk (2 cups) mixture over the layers and sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese (2 cups) on top.

8Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of cheddar cheese (2 cups) on top.

9Melt the butter (¼ cup) and mix it with breadcrumbs (½ cup). Sprinkle this mixture over the top layer of cheese.

10Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

11Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
