Steamed Chocolate Birthday Brownies

1Prepare your steamer by filling it with water and bringing it to a boil. If you don't have a steamer, you can use a large pot with a lid and a heatproof dish that fits inside.

2In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder (¼ teaspoon), and salt (¼ teaspoon). Mix well to ensure there are no lumps.

3In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs (2 large), and vanilla extract (1 teaspoon) until well combined.

4Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5Fold in the chocolate chips (½ cup) and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

6Grease a heatproof dish or a brownie pan with butter or cooking spray. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly.

7Place the dish in the steamer basket, cover with a lid, and steam for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
