Spicy Tomato and Onion Bread Bake

1.Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2.In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

3.Add the chopped tomatoes to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes until they start to break down.

4.Stir in the chili powder and salt, mixing well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.

5.Take the slices of bread and place them on a baking sheet. If desired, you can lightly toast them in the oven for 5 minutes before adding the topping.

6.Spread the tomato and onion mixture evenly over each slice of bread.

7.If using, sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the tomato and onion mixture.

8.Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden brown.

9.Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
