Ultimate Orange Sesame Chicken Delight

1In a large bowl, season the chicken pieces with salt and black pepper. Set aside.

2In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch (1 cup) and all-purpose flour (¼ cup). Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

3Dip the floured chicken pieces into the beaten eggs (2 large), ensuring they are fully coated.

4Heat the vegetable oil (2 tablespoons) in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.

5In a medium saucepan, combine the orange juice, (½ cup) soy sauce (¼ cup), rice vinegar (¼ cup), honey (¼ cup), brown sugar (¼ cup), sesame oil (2 tablespoons), garlic (2 cloves), ginger (1 tablespoon), orange zest (1 tablespoon), and red pepper flakes (½ teaspoon). Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

6Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly. If the sauce is too thin, you can thicken it by mixing 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (1 cup) with 2 tablespoons of water and adding it to the sauce, stirring until it thickens.

7Add the fried chicken pieces to the saucepan, tossing them in the sauce until they are well coated.

8Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds (2 tablespoons) over the chicken and toss again to ensure even distribution.

9Transfer the orange sesame chicken to a serving platter and garnish with sliced green onions (2).

10Serve immediately with steamed rice or your choice of side.
