Savory Beef in Its Juices with a Zesty Twist

1.In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef cubes and sear them until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.

2.In the same pot, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

3.Stir in the diced tomatoes and jalapeño pepper (if using), cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes start to break down.

4.Return the seared beef to the pot and add the beef broth, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.

5.Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together. Stir occasionally and add more broth or water if needed to keep the beef submerged.

6.Once the beef is tender, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can remove the lid and let it simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes to reduce the liquid.

7.Serve the savory beef in its juices hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges on the side.
