Classic Grilled Ham and Cheese with a Crunchy Twist

1.Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

2.Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will be the outside of the sandwich.

3.On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard if using.

4.Layer two slices of ham and two slices of cheese on top of the mayonnaise side of each of the two slices of bread.

5.Sprinkle a generous amount of crushed potato chips over the cheese for added crunch.

6.Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.

7.Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

8.Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, pressing down gently with a spatula to ensure even grilling.

9.Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing in half.

10.Serve warm and enjoy your crunchy twist on the classic grilled ham and cheese!
