Cream Cheese Frosted Biscuits

1.Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and granulated sugar until well combined.

3.Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4.Pour in the buttermilk and vanilla extract, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

5.Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

6.Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each biscuit.

7.Gather any scraps of dough, re-pat, and cut out additional biscuits until all the dough is used.

8.Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

9.While the biscuits are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.

10.Add the vanilla extract and gradually mix in the powdered sugar, beating until well combined. If the frosting is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

11.Once the biscuits are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before frosting.

12.Spread a generous layer of cream cheese frosting on top of each biscuit and serve warm.
