Sweet Apple and Date Syrup Tart

2.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

3.Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces.

5.Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.

6.On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch (30 cm) circle. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch (23 cm) tart pan with a removable bottom, pressing it gently into the edges. Trim any excess dough from the edges.

7.Prick the bottom of the crust lightly with a fork to prevent bubbling.

8.In a small bowl, toss the thinly sliced apples with honey and maple syrup until evenly coated.

9.Arrange the apple slices neatly over the tart crust in overlapping concentric circles, covering the entire surface.

10.Brush the exposed edges of the pastry with the beaten egg to encourage a golden color.

11.Optionally, sprinkle a tablespoon of granulated sugar over the apples for added caramelization.

12.Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender and slightly caramelized.

13.Remove the tart from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

14.Drizzle the date syrup generously over the warm tart, allowing it to seep into the apples and crust.

15.Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally accompanied by a dollop of plain yogurt or a splash of milk for a creamy contrast.
