Meat Rice Gratin

Preparation Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Cooking the Meat Mixture In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the onion, garlic, red bell pepper, and carrot, and cook until the vegetables are softened.

3.Stir in the frozen peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.

Preparing the Rice Mixture In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the mixture is bubbly and fragrant.

5.Gradually whisk in the milk, and continue cooking until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer. Remove from heat.

6.Add the cooked rice to the saucepan with the milk mixture, and stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembling the Gratin Spread half of the rice mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with the meat mixture, spreading evenly. Layer the remaining rice mixture on top.

Adding the Gratin Topping In a small bowl, combine the grated cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and melted butter. Sprinkle the mixture over the top of the gratin.

Baking and Serving Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. Serve hot and enjoy!
