Hawaiian Roll Bread Pudding

1Preparation Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

2Bread Pudding In a large bowl, add the Kings Hawaiian (8) roll cubes.

3Bread Pudding In a separate bowl, combine the whole milk (2 cups), heavy cream (1 cup), eggs (4 large), sugar, vanilla extract (1 teaspoon), cinnamon (½ teaspoon), nutmeg (¼ teaspoon), and salt (¼ teaspoon). Whisk until well combined.

4Bread Pudding Pour the milk mixture over the Kings Hawaiian (8) roll cubes. Add raisins if desired. Gently toss until the cubes are evenly coated. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the rolls to soak up the mixture.

5Bread Pudding Transfer the bread pudding mixture to the greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.

6Bread Pudding Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.

7Caramel Sauce While the bread pudding is baking, prepare the caramel sauce.

8Caramel Sauce In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar (1 cup) and water (¼ cup). Heat over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and turns amber in color.

9Caramel Sauce Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully add the heavy cream (½ cup). The mixture will bubble vigorously. Stir until well combined.

10Caramel Sauce Return the saucepan to low heat and add the butter and salt (¼ teaspoon). Cook, stirring constantly, until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth. Remove from heat.

11Assembly Once the bread pudding is done baking, let it cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top of the bread pudding.

12Assembly Serve the Hawaiian Roll Bread Pudding warm, optionally topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon (½ teaspoon).
